The North Mason basketball teams opened the 2018-2019 season Monday against Central Kitsap. The Lady Bulldogs beat the Lady Cougars 63 to 58 while the boys from Belfair lost to CK 64 to 54 in a game broadcast by MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
The boys’ game was relatively close through three quarters with North Mason having a brief eight-point lead in the second quarter but Central Kitsap responded, only finding themselves down one-point at the half.
In the second half, the Cougars turned up the pressure, forcing turnovers and holding the Bulldogs to eight points in the third, building a ten-point lead. That lead increased to 15 points in the fourth. NM finished with ten turnovers – seven in the second half.
Central Kitsap was lead by Austin McMinds who scored nine of his 14 points in the fourth quarter. Elijah McGee, who was hampered by foul trouble, added 12 points. Andrew Zetty hit three three-pointers and finished with 11 points. Elijah LaBow also hit three three’s chipping in 9 points.
North Mason was led in the loss by Brice Solis who scored 11 of his game-high 17 points in the fourt quarter. Solis hit four three-pointers (three in the fourth). Ryan Pearson added 16 points, hitting three three-pointers and going five for six from the free throw line. Miller Campbell added 11 points hitting three three’s.
The Bulldogs host Klahowya Wednesday in a girls and boys double header. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast both games. The ladies tip off at 5:30. The boys at 7:15.
