Mason County’s unemployment rate was unchanged in October. According to Washington Employment Security, the County’s unemployment rate last month was 5.5 percent – the same as the revised rate for September. The rate is two-tenths of a percentage point lower than October 2017’s rate of 5.7 percent.
Adjacent counties saw little or no change in unemployment in October. Jefferson County held at 4.9 percent. Thurston County’s unemployment rate (4.2%) increased one-tenth of a percentage point. Pierce (4.6%) and Kitsap (4.3%) counties saw increases of two-tenths of a percent in unemployment. Lewis County had an increase of three-tenths of a percent to 5.5 percent. And Grays Harbor County’s unemployment rate went up a half a percent to 6 percent.
