Two people were injured in a two-vehicle head-on collision on Highway 3 near Ecler Road Tuesday. According to a State Patrol press memo, a 2000 Ford Focus was northbound on SR-3 about 5:30 PM. Near milepost 8, the driver of the Ford passed another vehicle in a no-passing zone and struck a southbound 2000 Mercury Mountaineer head-on in the southbound lane.
The driver of the Focus, Samuel John Roark, 27 of Shelton, and a passenger in the Mercury, Mirna R. Firgureoa, 38 of Shelton, were injured and transported by aid car to Mason General Hospital.
The driver of the Mountaineer, Francisco Bernabe-Sebastian, 32 of Shelton, was not injured.
Both vehicles sustained “reportable” damage and were impounded.
The Trooper’s report indicates the cause of the crash was Roark passing in a no-passing zone.
