State Highway Road Construction 11/18 to 11/24

The following is a summary of road construction and maintenance scheduled on state highways around Mason County and adjacent areas from November 18, 2018 to November 24, 2018.

Maintenance

Highway: SR 3 vicinity Region: Olympic County: Mason Location: Milepost(s) 1 to 3
Description: The City of Shelton has various projects off SR 3 towards downtown Shelton occurring over the next few months. View their project webpage for more information about detours and lane closures.

Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Mason Location: Milepost(s) 306-310; 312-315
Description: One-way alternating traffic with flaggers as utility crews perform tree management.
Work Schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Highway: SR 108 Region: Olympic County: Mason Location: Milepost(s) 9.7 to 11.8
Description: Utility crews for Mason County will raise existing power lines along SR 108 between Hurley Waldrop Road and the US 101 interchange. Weather permitting, drivers may encounter one-way alternating traffic with flaggers and should expect minor delays.
Work Schedule: 8 a.m.to 4:30 p.m. each weekday through Thursday, Feb. 28. No work will occur on:

  • Wednesday, Nov. 21 – Friday, Nov. 23
  • Monday, Dec. 24- Tuesday, Dec. 25
  • Tuesday, Jan. 1
  • Monday, Jan. 21
  • Monday, Feb. 18

Highway: SR 302 Region: Olympic County: Pierce Location: Milepost(s) 10.6 to 11.6
Description: Peninsula Light is relocating various utilities in preparation for the SR 302 Minters Creeks fish passage project. Overnight drivers will see shoulder closures and may encounter a one way alternating traffic controlled by flaggers.
Work Schedule: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday through Friday, through Nov. 30.

Highway: SR 302 Region: Olympic County: Pierce Location: Milepost(s) 12.9 to 13.1
Description: Drivers will encounter an eastbound right shoulder closure as utility crew for CenturyLink install an underground communications line along SR 302.
Work Schedule: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 through Friday, Nov. 16.

Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Jefferson Location: Milepost(s) 274 to 290
Description: Single lane and shoulder closure for mowing and sweeping operation. Drivers will encounter a slow moving vehicle in both directions of US 101 near Discovery Bay.
Work Schedule: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each weekday beginning Tuesday, Nov. 13 through Thursday, Nov. 29.

Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Jefferson Location: Milepost(s) 306-315
Description: One-way alternating traffic with flaggers as utility crews for Kemp West perform hazard tree removal.
Work Schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22 – Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Highway: US 101 Region: Olympic County: Jefferson Location: Milepost(s) 285 to 295
Description: Utilities crews for Jefferson County PUD will conduct routine tree trimming. Drivers can expect one-way alternating traffic with flaggers during operations.
Work Schedule: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each weekday beginning Monday, Nov. 5. Through Friday, Nov. 30. No work on Nov. 21, 22 and 23 for Thanksgiving holiday.

Highway: SR 300 Region: Olympic County: Mason Location: Milepost(s) 3.2 to 3.3

Description: 30-minute total highway closure of SR 300 for the Belfair Christmas Parade.
Work Schedule: 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2.

Construction

SR 8 – Middle and East Forks Wildcat Creek – Remove Fish Barriers
Highway: SR 8 Region: Olympic County: Grays Harbor Location: Milepost(s) 4.3 to 7.5
Description: The eastbound lanes were reconfigured to accommodate both directions of traffic to allow crews to replace outdated culverts under SR 8 to improve fish passage for Middle and East Fork Wildcat Creek.
Work Schedule: Work is now substantially complete. Nearly six months ahead of schedule, crews have finished replacing outdated culverts under SR 8 and reopened SR 108 in McCleary. Travelers on SR 8 are now driving over four new bridges that span Middle and East Forks of Wildcat Creek for improved fish passage. The speed limit has also been restored to 60 mph.
