[VIDEO] Mason County Commission approved a higher purchase price for the former Olsen Furniture Building on Franklin Street in downtown Shelton. The County will now pay $900,000 for the building. That is $25,000 higher that the purchase price approved on October 23rd. Tuesday morning’s action was again unanimous despite two residents voicing opposition.
One of the two people also brought the issue to the attention of the Shelton City Council.
The Chair of the Mason County Commission was again authorized to sign a Purchase and Sales Agreement, Closing Contracts and any pertinent documents for the building at 414 West Franklin Street.
The County plans to use the building to house an expanded District Court and possibly the Clerk’s Office.
Payment will come from REET 1 (Real Estate Excise Tax) funds with 25 percent down and monthly payments for five years at an interest rate of 4.5 percent.
