DUI Suspected in 101 Crash

Alcohol or drugs are suspected to have caused a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 101 Saturday afternoon. The State Patrol reports that a 2004 Cadillac Deville was northbound on 101 about 4:30 PM. Near milepost 324, eight miles north of Hoodsport near Eagle Creek, the Cadillac attempted to pass multiple vehicles in a no passing zone and in a blind corner. A southbound 1980 Volvo moved to the shoulder to avoid the Deville but the cars collided on the southbound shoulder.

The driver of the Cadillac, Ituau Tali, 29 of Tacoma, was injured and taken to Mason General Hospital in Shelton. No information on whether the driver of the Volvo was injured but she was Cynthina S. Kempf, 40 of Brinnon.

The press memo does indicate that drugs or alcohol were involved and Tali faces Driving Under the Influence charges.
