[VIDEO] Mason County is buying the former Olsen Furniture building on Franklin Street in downtown Shelton. The County plans to use the building to expand District Court. Purchase price is $875,000. The County will use REET 1 (Real Estate Excise Tax) funds for the 25 percent down payment and then pay monthly installments at 4.5 percent for five years.
Tuesday’s action by the Mason County Commission was unanimous despite one person voicing opposition. Tom Davis said the building should continue to be used for retail space instead of being converted into a court facility and taken off the tax rolls.
The Commissioners authorized the Board’s Chair to sign a Purchase and Sale Agreement, Closing Contracts and any pertinent documents to purchase the building at 414 West Franklin Street.
