Lynch Road drivers are now able to use newly completed acceleration lanes to merge onto both directions of US 101 in Mason County.
The acceleration lanes, completed ahead of schedule, enhance Lynch Road drivers’ ability to reach highway speeds before merging onto the highway. Each acceleration lane is approximately a quarter-mile in length, and is intended to help reduce traffic congestion at Lynch Road. Opening the acceleration lanes heralds the last major work on the 3-month construction project, during which crews also installed highway lighting, new guardrail and drainage systems.
Daytime US 101 lane closures scheduled to occur on Sunday, Oct. 28, have been cancelled.
The Washington State Department of Transportation thanks drivers for their patience during the US 101 – Lynch Road – Safety Improvements project.
