Description: Crews are finalizing work to make roadway modifications to help increase sight distance for Lynch Road drivers merging onto southbound US 101. WSDOT anticipates both new acceleration lanes will open to traffic by November.
Some work is weather-dependent and could change that schedule. Remaining work elements include final lane striping, installing new highway lighting, reinstalling cable barrier as well as regrading and seeding the median.
Work Schedule: Until work is complete, drivers can expect daytime single-lane closures in both directions of US 101 and a reduced speed limit of 40 mph.
- From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, travelers will encounter single lane closures on US 101 and median closures that will limit turns to and from Lynch Road. Detours using SR 3 and SR 108 will be provided for drivers affected by median closures. Crews will install pavement markings.
- A single lane of northbound US 101 may close each weekday around-the-clock except during the afternoon commute from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A single lane of southbound US 101 may close each weekday around-the-clock except during the morning commute from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

SR 8 – Middle and East Forks Wildcat Creek – Remove Fish Barriers
Highway: SR 8 Region: Olympic County: Grays Harbor Location: Milepost(s) 4.3 to 7.5
Description: The eastbound lanes have been reconfigured to accommodate both directions of traffic as crews replace outdated culverts under SR 8 to improve fish passage for Middle and East Fork Wildcat Creek.
Work Schedule: Crews are nearing the final phase of the project and are months ahead of schedule.
The traffic shift will involve removing the temporary crossover that reduced traffic to a single lane in each direction while the four bridges were built. Once the shift is complete, traffic will follow the original lane designations. Eastbound traffic will remain in its current configuration and one lane of westbound traffic will be shifted back onto the westbound roadway. Weather permitting, crews anticipate demobilizing and restoring two lanes flowing in each direction and reopening the intersection of SR 8/108 concurrently by the end of October 2018.
Remaining work includes: installing cable barrier, planting vegetation, removing temporary illumination poles and completing final pavement markings.
