The Shelton football team fell to Yelm Friday in their Homecoming game 49 to 6.
The Tornados dominated the game scoring 42 points in the first half and finished with 380 yards of offense. The Highclimbers finished with 126 yards of offense including Troy Goodwin taking a Luke McPhee pass 95 yards for Shelton’s touchdown.
The ‘Climbers drop to 0-and-8 on the season while Yelm improves to 6-and-2 overall, 5-and-1 in the South Sound Conference.
Shelton wraps up SSC play next Friday against North Thurston. The game between the Highclimbers and the Rams will be played at South Sound Stadium in Lacey. Both teams are winless in their six conference games this season. However, NT has two non-conference wins. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast the game live.
The North Mason football team got back on the winning track beating Kingston 36 to 20 Friday. The Bulldogs’ Reese Smelcer scored the Bulldogs’ first touchdown on a 10-yard run. Cole Varick took a Sean Ward pass 24 yards for the boys from Belfair’s second score. Dylan Tupolo added the 2-point conversion. NM’s third TD was a 10-yard Ward pass to Mason Shumaker. Mario Nanez then punched it is from three yards out and Tupolo added another 2-point conversion. The Bulldogs’ final score came on a 90-yard by Smelcer. North Mason improved to 4-and-4 on the season, 2-and-3 in the Olympic League. The boys from Belfair travel to Port Angeles next Friday.
If North Mason beats the Roughriders next week and Bremerton falls to league leading Sequim, the Bulldogs would make the playoffs. The boys from Belfair could finish third in the Olympic League if North Kitsap beat Olympic (since NM beat the Trojans in week three.)
