League Discusses Electoral College

[VIDEO] The League of Women Voters of Mason County discussed the Electoral College Tuesday during their monthly meeting. League Member Amy Davis gave a PowerPoint presentation on why the Electoral College was created and why it should be abolished.

A constitutional amendment is needed to abolish the Electoral College. A dozen states, including Washington, have taken action to enact the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact but the movement needs to pass in more states to be enacted. The NPVI Compact needs 270 Electoral Votes and currently has 172. The League would like to see this change by the next Presidential Election in 2020.
