Travelers who use US 101 near Taylor Towne in Mason County may notice the US 101 – Lynch Road – Safety Improvements project has reached a key milestone.
Newly completed paving and previous work lay the foundation for crews to build new acceleration lanes for Lynch Road drivers merging onto northbound and southbound US 101.
Remaining construction and timeline
Crews will install final lane striping in about three weeks after new asphalt has cured. Other remaining work elements include installing new highway lighting, reinstalling cable barrier as well as regrading and seeding the median.
The Washington State Department of Transportation anticipates both acceleration lanes will open to traffic by late October. Some of the work is weather-dependent and could change that schedule.
Until work is complete, drivers can expect daytime single-lane closures in both directions of US 101.
