The Community Partners, an educational grant program to enrich educational opportunities in K-12 classrooms in South Mason County and East Grays Harbor announced the opening of the 2018/19 Grant Application Period Tuesday.
The application may be filled out and submitted following directions at: https://www.ourcu.com/community-partners-education-grant/.
The application process closes on December 31, 2018. Grant awards will then be determined by the Partner representatives and funds distributed for immediate use for the 2018/19 calendar school year.
Last year 28 teachers, 21 in Mason County and 7 in Grays Harbor received nearly $23,000 for such varied projects such as learning tablets for individualized learning, field trips to local museums, summer canine reading buddies, and focused instruction in math, science, engineering and leadership. A list of last year’s recipients is available on the community page of Our Community Credit Union’s web site, www.ourcu.com.
The list of business partners has grown steadily since the program started back in 2014. The current partnership includes Our Community Credit Union, Belco Forest Products, Elma Family Dental, Green Diamond Resource Company, Hood Canal Communications, Shelton Dental Center, Sierra Pacific Foundation, Simpson Door Company, and Vaughan Chopper Pumps.
Founded in 2014, the Community Partners Education Grant has funded over $50,000 worth of K-12 projects. In this unique program, teachers are responsible for developing their educational ideas and using their grant dollars to fulfill the mission of the CPEG partnership.
