The North Mason football team won the Mason County Cup Friday, knocking off Shelton 35 to 7.
The Bulldogs and Highclimbers played to a 7-7 tie in the first half but the boys from Belfair ran away with the game in the second half behind Dylan Topulo and Reece Smelcer.
Tupolo finished with 144 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Smelcer ended up with 148 yards and two TDs. Shawn Ward scored on a quarterback sneak and threw a 12-yard TD pass to Anthony Arreola.
Shelton’s touchdowns came on a four-yard pass from Skyler Cook to Anthony Boren and Josiah Olels ran it in from three yards out. The Highclimbers were to 119 yards of offense. Troy Goodwin lead Shelton with 30 yards on the ground. Cook completed 7 to 17 passes for 52 yards.
North Mason took back the Mason County Cup last year after three straight wins by the ‘Climbers. Shelton leads the series 4 to 3.
Shelton hits the road next Friday, traveling to Montesano. North Mason travels to Silverdale Thursday to take on Klahowya. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast both games.
