The State Patrol is investigating after a car struck a house on U.S. Highway 101 about a mile south of Hoodsports Thursday afternoon.
According to a press memo, the 2008 Toyota Yaris was southbound about 4:45 PM. At milepost 333, the car lost control due to wet conditions. The Yaris hydroplaned and left the roadway. The Toyota reportedly vaulted 35 feet off the road, struck the house, then fell 12 feet down an embankment before coming to rest against the house. Troopers and Mason County Sheriff’s deputies tended to the driver’s wounds including applying a tourniquet until aid arrived.
The driver of the car, Ariana Dose, 19 of Shelton, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
