Wednesday, August 22, the Shelton Education Association ratified the contract negotiated by teachers union representatives and district officers with a 94.1 % approval. The contract agreement comes after many weeks of negotiations between the Shelton Education Association and the Shelton School District. The Shelton School Board is expected to approve the District’s 2018-2019 budget at their meeting Tuesday night.
“I greatly appreciate the collaborative effort demonstrated throughout the negotiation process between our teacher union and the school district negotiating team. We made great progress together regarding contract language and compensation,” Superintendent Alex Apostle stated. “We continue to move Shelton school district forward in a very positive manner.”
“The goal of SEA for years has been to offer our members a professional and competitive salary. This year we were able to do that and we are now being paid as professional educators. We will now be able to attract and retain teachers to the Shelton School District.” Ron Goodale, President of the Shelton Education Association.
The Shelton School Board meets at 6 PM in the commons at Oakland Bay Junior High School. The public is welcome to attend.
