Health Advisory Issued for Mason Lake

The Mason County Public Health Division has issued a health advisory for Mason County and is investigating reports of people experiencing gastrointestinal illness after visiting the Lake on August 8th and 9th. Environmental Health has secured water samples from the lake and is testing those samples.

As of August 10, the Green Diamond swimming area at Mason Lake has been closed. There is no indication that any other parts of the lake need to be closed at this time.

If you begin to have gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, diarrhea) after visiting Mason Lake this week and decide to visit your doctor or walk-in clinic, please request a stool sample to help identify the source of the illness.

Mason County Public Health will reevaluate the status of Mason Lake on Monday, August 13, and will provide an update at that time.
