[VIDEO] The Port of Shelton plans to demolish buildings at the former Fairgrounds in late October. The Port’s Executive Director, Wendy Smith, told the Port Commissioners Tuesday thieves have broken into those buildings and stole fixtures, wires and copper.
These crimes prompted the Port to accelerate their schedule and they are ready to award a contract.
The Port will need to go through the SEPA (State Environmental Policy Act) process and the Port Commission will declare the buildings surplus prior to demolition, which is scheduled for the week of October 29th.
A thief also prowled boats at Oakland Bay Marina. The Port’s surveillance cameras show a person on the guest dock at 4:45 PM Saturday using a dingy to access the marina’s other docks and prowling boats. The Shelton Police Department is investigating. Anyone with information should contact Shelton Police.
