The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a domestic violence homicide that occurred in the Collins Lake area. Chief Deputy Ryan Spurling told MasonWebTV Powered by HCC, the husband reported the crime Wednesday morning and is in custody.
According to Spurling, there was no indication of a weapon so investigators believe the 52-year-old woman died during a physical attack and they are trying to determine when the homicide actually occurred. The Washington State Patrol Crime Scene Response Team is processing the scene.
Spurling said there is no threat to the public as the suspect has been booked into Mason County Jail.
“It’s kind of a different one because we’re not looking for somebody,” Spurling said in a phone interview. “We’ve already got the somebody in custody.”
Name of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The name of the suspect will be released once he is formally charged.
