Education Topic of Shelton Mason County Chamber Luncheon

[VIDEO] Education in the Mason County was the topic of Thursday’s Shelton-Mason County Chamber Luncheon..

The speakers were Shawn Batstone, Superintendent of the Hood Canal School District, Alex Apostle, the Superintendent of the Shelton School District, and Allison Smith, Olympic College Shelton Campus Administrator.

Batstone talked about his district’s demographics, the programs offered at the K-8 school and the funding challenges that still exist for not only Hood Canal Communications but all school districts.

Dr. Apostle discussed his district’s plans as they begin work after voters passed a $65 Million bond which included a three-story addition to Shelton High School, a new Mt. View Elementary, improvements to other schools and facilities, as well as updates to the District’s Athletic complex.

Ms. Smith let everyone know that contrary to rumor, the the Olympic College Shelton Campus is staying open.
