The unemployment rate in Mason County dropped in April. According to preliminary figures from the State Employment Security Department, the County’s unemployment rate last month was 6.6 percent, down four-tenths of a percentage point from the revised rate for March of 7 percent but the same as the rate for April of last year.
Adjacent counties also saw decreases in unemployment.
Grays Harbor (7.2%) and Jefferson (6.4%) counties dropped a half percent.
Lewis (6.7%) and Pierce (5.4%) saw decreases of four-tenths of a percent.
Thurston County’s unemployment rate dropped three-tenths of a percent to 5 percent.
Kitsap County was a decrease of two-tenth of a percent to 5 percent.
