Shelton Baseball Falls in State

The Shelton baseball team was held to three hits and lost 3 to 1 to Southridge Saturday in the regional round of the Class 3A State Baseball Championships at Pasco High School. The Highclimbers scored the only run in the third inning. Wade Smotherman batted in Brenden Engstrom on a sacrifice grounder that tied the game at 1-1.

In the sixth inning, Caeleb Hitsman hit a two-out single and Ty Smotherman walked but bother were left on base.

The top of the seventh inning is when the Suns pulled away with two runs.

In the bottom of the seventh, Max “Falcon” Johnson led off with a single. South ridge reliever Jake Harvey came in and stuck out Max Johnson and Trey Dehning. Walked Engstrom. Austin Ramfield took the count full but ended up striking out to end the game.

Shelton finishes the season with a 16-and-9 record, was fourth in the South Sound Conference, third in the West Central District 3 / Southwest District 4 and was one of the top 16 teams in the state among Class 3A team making the Regional Round of the State Baseball Championships. .
