High School Sports Results from 5/7/18

NM Softball Wins & Track Results; SHS Softball Falls

The North Mason fast pitch softball team pounded Bremerton Monday 17 to 7. The Lady scored in each inning as they swept the Knight in two games this season. The girls from Belfair were led by Rebekah Fredrickson who went 2 for 4 at the plate with a home run, three RBI and scored two runs. Kaylee Huffman was 2 for 4 with a triple, three RBI and scored two runs. Corlies Newman went 3 for 5 with a double, a triple, batted in two runs and scored three runs. Skylar Drumm went 2 for 4 with two doubles, two RBI and scored three runs. Natalie Mathews was 2 for 5 with a double, two RBI and scored a run. And Jordin Sullivan went 3 for 5 with an RBI and scored three runs. North Mason improved to 6-and-12 on the season, 4-and-7 in the Olympic League. They wrap up the regular season at Olympic Wednesday.

The Shelton fast pitch softball team wrapped up the regular season Monday with a 3 to 1 loss at Peninsula. The Lady Highclimbers’ only run was the fourth inning on a solo home run by Kamryn Hyland. Shelton drops to 9-and-11 on the season, 5-and-9 in the South Sound Conference. They take on North Thurston at 1 PM Thursday in the SSC Tournament at the RAC in Lacey. If the Highclimbers beat the Rams then they play Yelm at 3 PM Thursday. If Shelton loses to NT, they would play Friday at 1 PM against Central Kitsap or Peninsula.

The South Sound Conference Tournament determines seeding in the West Central District 3 / Southwest District 4 Tournament that starts May 17th.

At the Olympic League Track and Field Junior Varsity Championships Monday at Kingston High School, North Mason’s Grace Borah won the girls’ 200 meters.
Cole Varick finished 2nd in the boys’ 800 meters and 1600 meters.
Lupoeomanu Tupolo placed 2nd in the boys’ shot put.
Nathaniel Coffin took 2nd in the boys’ pole vault.
Reid Williams took 2nd in the boys’ 200 meters and 3rd in the boys’ triple jump.
Seth Cox was 2nd in the boys’ long jump and 3rd in the boys’ 200 meters.
Taylor Dickinson placed 3rd in the girls’ 1600 meters.
