SHS Softball Wins & Track Results

The Shelton fast pitch softball team pulled away from Timberline in the fifth inning Friday as the Lady Highclimbers beat Blazers 6 to 2 on senior recognition day. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC broadcast the game.

Shelton got things started in the second inning when Hailee Stots batted in Alex Walters on a sacrifice ground ball.
In the third, Timberline scored two runs to take the lead but the ‘Climbers tied the game on Camryn Hyland’s two-out single that scored Alyssa Jorgensen.
Hyland relieved Walters in the pitching circle in the fourth inning and shut down the Blazers, holding Timberline hit less through her four innings, striking out three and walking one.
Shelton broke open the game in the firth inning scoring four runs on three hits and two errors.
Jorgensen went 3 for 3 at the plate and scored two runs.
Hyland was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Walters went 2 for 3 and scored two runs.
Erica Ayala was 1 for 3 and scored a run.
After the game, six seniors were recognized. They were Erica Ayala, Taylor Rasler, Alyssa Jorgensen, Angelea Wirstrom, Alecia Plant, and Lanna Svoboda.

The Highclimbers improved to 9-and-10 on the season, 5-and-8 in the South Sound Conference. They wrap up the regular season Monday at Peninsula.

At the 54th Shaner Track and Field Invitational at Tumwater District Stadium Friday, Shelton freshman Victoria Silverman won the girls’ 300-meter hurdles.
The relay team of Austyne Cralle, Victoria Silverman, Kamdan Nicklaus and Trinity Payment took 2nd in the girls’ 4 x 100.
Austyne Cralle was 4th in the girls’ triple jump with at personal record distance of 33 feet, 2.5 inches.
Kyle McGregor place 4th in the boys’ discus with a personal record distance of 134 feet.
In team scoring, the Lady Highclimbers finished 11th while the Shelton boys were 12th.
Shelton hosts to the South Sound Conference Championships next Thursday and Saturday.

High School Sports Scheduled for Saturday, May 4, 2018:

Track and Field: North Mason in the Olympic League Championships at North Kitsap High School in Poulsbo 10 AM

Baseball: West Central District 3 / Southwest District 4 Tournament: Shelton vs. Evergreen at Heritage Park in Puyallup 1 PM. The Highclimbers will then play either Wilson or Timberline at 4 PM. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will provide inning updates on the HIghclimbers’ games in districts.
