Candidate filing for the 2018 election begins Monday, May 14th at 9:00 AM and ends Friday, May 18th at 4:00 PM. Those wishing to run for local office may file their Declarations of Candidacy in person at the Auditor’s office or online at www.co.mason.wa.us\elections.
Partisan Mason County offices open for election this year include Assessor, Auditor, Clerk, Commissioner (District 3), Coroner, Prosecutor, Sheriff, and Treasurer.
Nonpartisan County offices open for election are PUD 1 Commissioner (District 3), PUD 3 Commissioner (District 3), Superior Court Judge (Position 2), and District Court Judge.
State positions open for election are 35th District Legislative Representatives (Positions 1 and 2) and State Senator. Candidates filing for state positions must file with the Secretary of State’s office.
At the close of filing week on Friday, May 18th, a lot draw will be held to determine the order in which candidates will be listed on the Primary ballot. The Primary Election is August 7th. The General Election is November 6th.
