Tuesday night, the Shelton City Commission awarded the construction contract for the Downtown Connector and Turner Avenue projects.
The contract for the Downtown Connector went to Waunch Construction and Trucking, Inc of Olympia. Waunch Construction’s bid of just over $4.3 was the lowest among the six bids received. Craig Gregory is Director of Public Works.
The Downtown Connector project includes resurfacing Olympic Highway North and West Alder Street between East C Street and North 1st Street, the installation of a roundabout at 1st and Alder, elimination of the west bound climbing lane along Olympic Highway North, a new traffic signal at Alder Street and 7th Street, installation of a new bus stop shelter at Alder and 8th, as well as sidewalk and parking improvements.
The Commissioners also award the Turner Avenue Construction contract to Northern Asphalt, LLC for their low bid of $478,163. This project spans Turner from Angleside Street to 16th Street, and includes stormwater improvements and new asphalt.
