Losses for SHS Baseball, Softball, Golf; NM Golf Split, Baseball & Softball Lose

The Shelton baseball team lost to Peninsula 8 to 1 Wednesday in 10 innings. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC broadcast the game.

The Highclimbers scored first in the the first inning when Max “Falcon” Johnson hit a two-out sacrifice fly that scored Caeleb Hitsman.

Shelton held that 1-0 lead until the fifth inning when Jayden Bunch tied things up with an RBI single.
The game went into extra innings and Peninsula broke it open in the top of the 10th scoring seven runs. Anders Vogel started things off with a two-run single. Then, with the bases loaded, Trent Buchanan blasted a 1-1 pitch to left field for a grand slam home run. And N Eberhardt wrapped up the scoring with an RBI single. Buchanan finished 3 for 5 at the plate with four RBI and a home run. He also picked up the win, pitching five hitless innings in relief. With the win, the Seahawks move into the sixth playoff spot with two games remaining.
The Highclimber were held to three hits: Caeleb Hitsman, Ty Smotherman (a double) and Falcon Johnson.
Shelton dropped to 12-and-6 on the season, 6-and-6 in the South Sound Conference. The ‘Climbers are tied with Yelm for fourth place with two games against conference leader Capital left. Shelton plays on the road Friday and wraps up the regular season at home Monday. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast that regular season finale.

The Shelton fast pitch softball team was held to three hits in their 14 to 3 South Sound Conference loss to North Thurston Wednesday. The Lady Highclimbers’ Taya Gouley had two of those hits while Alexandra Walters had the other one and batted in a run. Meleah Walsh also had an RBI for Shelton. The ‘Climbers drop to 7-and-7 on the season, 4-and-5 in the SSC. Shelton hosts North Kitsap Friday. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast that non-league game live.

In golf, the Shelton girls lost to Timberline 77 to 70 while the boys’ scores: the Highclimbers 113, the Blazers 94. Shelton hosts North Thurston Tuesday at Alderbrook Country Club.

The North Mason boys’ golf team knocked off Olympic 183 to 168 while the Lady Bulldogs lost to the Trojans 209 to 165. The golfers from Belfair will participate in the Higgins Memorial Tournament Thursday at the Kitsap Golf & Country Club.

The North Mason softball team lost to North Kitsap Wednesday in eight inning 7 to 6. Kaylee Huffman led the Lady Bulldogs in the loss going 2 for 3 at the plate, with a triple, three RBI and scored two runs. Corlise Newman was 2 for 4 with two RBI. And Chloe Lewis batted in a run. The girls from Belfair drop to 4-and-11 on the season, 2-and-6 in the Olympic League. They travel to Port Angeles Friday.

The North Mason baseball team lost North Kitsap 12 to 2 Wednesday. The Bulldogs dropped to 6-and-12 on the season, 4-and-6 in the Olympic League. The loss also drops the boys from Belfair a half game Kingston for fourth place in the standings and the last playoff spot with two games remaining in the regular season. North Mason travels to Port Angeles Friday.
