Wins for SHS Softball & Baseball; NM Baseball Wins, Softball Falls
The Shelton fast pitch softball team pounded Capital Monday 11 to 2.
Kamryn Hyland returned to the line up and led the Lady Highclimbers going 3 for 4 at the plate with two doubles, three RBI and scored two runs. Alyssa Jorgensen was 3 for 3 with two doubles, an RBI and scored four runs. Jayde Smith went 2 for 4 and batted in two runs. Alexandra Walters was 2 for 3 with two doubles, an RBI and scored two runs. And Trisha (last name not available) was 2 for 3 and scored two runs.
Walters got the win, pitching six innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out nine and walking two.
Shelton improved to 7-and-7 on the season, 4-and-5 in the South Sound Conference. The ‘Climbers travel to North Thurston Wednesday.
The Shelton baseball team shut out Peninsula Monday 2 to 0 behind the pitching of Max “Falcon” Johnson who pitched a complete game, allowing six hits, no runs, two walks, and struck out seven.
The Highclimbers were held to five hits: three by Matthew Osberg (3 for 3); the other two by Brenden Engstrom (1 for 4) and Wade Smotherman (1 for 2).
Caeleb Hitsman scored Shelton’s first run in the first inning on an error. Wade Smotherman had the game’s only RBI in the fifth inning scoring Kevin Snodgrass.
The ‘Climbers improve to 12-and-5 on the season, 6-and-5 in the South Sound Conference and are now tied with Yelm for fourth place in the standings, a half game behind Gig Harbor.
Shelton hosts Peninsula Wednesday. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast that game live beginning at 4 PM.
The North Mason baseball team slipped by Bremerton Monday 5 to 4. The Bulldogs sweep the season series with the Knights and have a four-game winning streak. The boys from Belfair improve to 6-and-10 on the season, 4-and-4 in the Olympic League and are now fourth in the standings with four games left in the regular season. North Mason hosts Kingston today (Tuesday). The top four teams from the Olympic League make the Class 2A West Central District 3 Tournament.
The North Mason fast pitch softball team was shut out by Olympic Monday13 to 0. The Lady Bulldogs were held to five hits. Amber Johnson led the girls from Belfair in the loss going 2 for 4 with a double. Emma Grabtree had a double. And Corlese Newman and Kaylee Huffman accounted fo North Mason’s other hits. The Bulldogs drop to 3-and-10 on the season, 1-and-5 in the Olympic League. They host Kingston Tuesday.
