SHS & NM Baseball Post Wins
The Shelton baseball team beat Timberline 4 to 3 in eight innings Friday. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC broadcast the game.
Josh Deemer scored from third base on a passed ball with two outs in the bottom of the extra inning and the Highclimbers took soul possession of fifth place in the South Sound Conference. Shelton is now 11-and-5 on the season, 5-and-5 in the SSC, a half game behind fourth place Gig Harbor. Six teams make the District Tournament which begins on May 5th.
Max “Falcon” Johnson, Trey Dehning and Max Johnson each batted in runs for the ‘Climbers. Falcon and Dehning hit doubles.
Brenden Engstrom earned the win in relief. Engstrom, the third Shelton pitcher, allowed one hit in an inning and a third, and struck out four.
The Highclimbers have four games left in the regular season: two against Peninsula and two against league-leading Capital. Shelton plays at the Seahawks Monday and hosts them Wednesday. The ‘Climbers play at the Cougars next Friday and wrap up the regular season at home against Capitl on April 30th. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast Shelton’s home games.
The North Mason baseball team beat Chimacum Friday 3 to 1. The Bulldogs first scored in the second inning of the non-league game when Ryan McGanney batted in Gavin Rightmyer with two outs and Ethan Collins followed with a single that scored McGanney. In the third inning, Brenden Kimball scored on Noah Wiseman’s grounder. The boys’ from Belfair improved to 5-and-10 on the season. They look to sweep the season series with Bremerton Monday.
The North Mason girls’ tennis team lost at Kingston Friday 6 to 1. The Lady Bulldogs travel to Olympic Tuesday.
