Belfair Man Involved in Port Orchard Crash

A UPS driver from Belfair was involved in a two-vehicle non-injury crash near Port Orchard Saturday. According to the State Patrol, a 1998 Volvo S70 sedan was eastbound on Highway 160 just before 6 PM. As the car approached the intersection with Jackson Avenue, it crossed the center line into the westbound lane into the path of a westbound 2005 Freightliner UPS box truck. In an attempt to avoid a collision, the driver of the UPS truck moved to the eastbound shoulder but the Volvo struck the left rear side of the brown delivery van. The sedan ended up in the westbound ditch while the UPS truck came to rest in the eastbound ditch. No one was injured.

A press memo identifies the driver of the Volvo as Eric Keith Canton, 50 of Port Orchard, and the UPS driver as Austen James Urlacher, 29 of Belfair.

The investigation continues and the Trooper’s report indicates a suspicious of drugs or alcohol being involved in the crash.
