A Mason County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle was struck Saturday morning while making a U-Turn on Highway 3 in Belfair.
The State Patrol is investigating and says the 2016 Ford Explorer patrol vehicle was parked on the southbound shoulder of SR-3 at milepost 28. About 9:15 AM, the deputy activated the SUV’s emergency lights and siren and attempted the U-turn in front of a southbound 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The Jeep struck the Explorer.
The deputy, Larry W. Ellis, 58 of Shelton, was transported by aid car to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton.
The driver of the Cherokee, Susan M. Moore, 63 of Monroe was not injured.
