Walk off Single Does In SHS Baseball, Golf Falls, Tennis Wins; NM Soccer Shut Out, Track Results
A walkoff ground ball to center field with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning broke a 2-2 tie and the Shelton baseball team lost at Timberline Tuesday 3 to 2. The Blazers scored two runs in the second inning but the Highclimbers responded with two runs in the third. Shelton managed only three hits with Brenden Engstrom, Trey Dehning and Ty Smotherman going 1 for 3 at the plate. Zack Jonker and Ty Smotherman scored the ‘Climbers’ runs on a error. Austin Ramsfield took the loss in relief of Engstrom (who went two innings, gave up two runs on one hit, struck out three and walked three). Ramsfield allowed a run on four hits while striking out four with no walks. Shelton drops to 10-and-3 on the season, 4-and-3 in the South Sound Conference. The Shelton golf teams lost to Gig Harbor Tuesday. The boys fell 177 to 134 while the Lady Highclimbers lost 128 to 67. Shelton golfers host Central Kitsap next Tuesday.
The Shelton girls’ tennis team blanked Yelm Tuesday 5 to 0. The Highclimbers’ singles players Josie Beaudoin and Lindsee Smotherman, and the doubles teams of Emma Johnson/Becca Allen, Kristy Holdbrook/Kaylee Sloane, and Jessica Schreiber/Joni Allen posted wins. Shelton hosts Capital Tuesday.

The North Mason boys’ soccer team was shut out at Bremerton Tuesday two-nil (2 to 0). The Bulldogs are now 1-6-and-2 on the season, 1-and-6 in the Olympic League. The boys from Belfair host Olympic Friday.
In a four-team meet at Phil Pugh Stadium, the North Mason girls’ track and field team topped Sequim (50.5), Chimacum (49) and Bremerton (37.5) with a score of 89. The boys from Belfair finished 2nd behind Sequim.
Lily Campbell won the girls’ shot put, discus and javelin.
Reese Smelcer won the boys’ 100 meters and the boys’ 200 meters.
Braeden Kemmer took the boys’ long jump.
Natalie Carstensen took the girls’s 200 meters and 400 meters, and finished 2nd in the girls’ 100 meters.
Savannah Knutson was 1st in the girls’ 1600 meters and 2nd in the girls’ 800 meters.
Isasbella Porter won the girls’ 300-meter hurdles and was 2nd in the 100-meter hurdles.
Grady Durbin took the boys’ shot put and was 2nd in the discus.
Austin Williams was 2nd in the boys’ 100 meters.
Taylro Dickson placed 2nd in the girls’ 1600 meters.
Noah Hasselblad finished 2nd in the boys’ 3200 meters.
Felicity Fowler was 2nd in the girls’ high jump.
Kira Schwerzler took 2nd in the girls’ long jump.
Christopher Ramsey placed 2nd in the boys’ long jump and finished tied for 2nd in the boys’ high jump.
Nathan Fjeld tied for 2nd in the boys’ long jump.
The relay team of Michelle Swearingen, Isabella Porter, Savannah Knutson and Taylor Dickinson placed 2nd in the girls’ 4 x 400.
North Mason will participate in the Terrace Invite at Edmonds Woodway High School on Saturday.
