The Port of Allyn Commission is now utilizing the services of MasonWebTV Powered by HCC to record their business meetings. The video of the Port of Allyn Commission’s April 9, 2018 special meeting is now available.
The top item on the agenda was a presentation on the Sweetwater Park Project by Mendy Harlow, Executive Director of the Pacific Northwest Salmon Enhancement Group.
The project includes acquisition and cleanup of nearly an acre riparian and upland habitat (, currently owned by the North Mason School District), waterwheel restoration, new stream channel to create fish bypass around the waterwheel pond, natural playground, picnic shelter, restroom and parking lot with an ADA accessible loop trail around the waterwheel pond, a fishing dock and interpretive signs. The area in question is east of Highway 3 in Belfair just south of Belfair Elementary School.
In order for the project to go forward, the property needs to be transferred to another entity such as the Port of Allyn.
After about an hour of discussion, the Port of Allyn Commission took action to enter into an agreement with the North Mason School District to acquire the property.
