SHS Baseball & Softball Win, Soccer Shut Out; Track Results for SHS & MMK

The Shelton baseball team blew out Lakes Thursday 16 to 3. The Highclimbers jumped on the Lancers early scoring three runs in the first, five in the second, six in the third and two in the fourth.
Dylan Coots lead the way for Shelton hitting a three-run triple with two outs in the third inning. Caeleb Hitsman was 2 for 5 at the plate with a triple, walked three times and scored three runs. Easton Waylett, Austin Ramsfield, Blaine VanAagten and Zach Jonker batted in two runs each. And Maurice Castro and Brenden Engstrom each had an RBI.
The win went to Trey Dehning who allowed one run on two hits, striking out three and walking three.
The ‘Climbers are now 8-and-1 on the season. They return to South Sound Conference play Saturday against Yelm at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma. First pitch is 6 PM.

The Shelton fast pitch softball team slipped by Lakes Thursday 7 to 6.
The Lady Highclimbers struck first with two runs in the second and two in the third but the Lady Lancers tied the game with four runs in their half of the third. Shelton took the lead back with two more runs in the fourth inning. Lakes cut the ‘Climber lead to one in the fifth inning but Shelton got the run back in the sixth. In the seventh inning, the Lancers get a run with two out but Alexandra Walters struck out the side and Lakes left the winning runs on base.
Walters went the distance in the pitching circle allowing six runs on three hits, striking out six and walking three. She also went 2 for 3 at the plate with a double and two RBI. Taya Gouley also batted in two runs.
The Highclimbers improved to 3-and-4 on the season. They host River Ridge Friday in a make up non-league game originally scheduled for March 12th. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast the game. First pitch is 4 PM.

The Shelton boys’ soccer team was shut out by Peninsula Thursday two-nil (2 to 0). The Highclimbers are now 1-7-and-1 on the season, 1-5-and-1 in the South Sound Conference. They host Timberline Tuesday.

The Shelton track teams beat North Thurston Thursday. The boys won 105 to 34 while the Lady Highclimbers beat the Rams 85 to 61.
Shelton’s Troy Goodwin won the boys’ 100 meters and the boys’ 200 meters.
Trinity Payment took the girls’ 100 meters.
Aiden Gregg won the girls’ 1600 meters.
William Johnson took the boys’ 1600 meters.
Victoria Silverman was 1st in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles.
Noah Manu won the boys’ 110-meter hurdles.
Domoniq Monette topped the boys’ 300-meter hurdles.
The girls’ relay team of Austyne Cralle, Victoria Silverman, Kamdan Nicklaus and Trinity Payment took the 4 x 100.
The girls’ relay team of Miracle Horne, Trinity Payment, Kamdan Nicklaus and Victoria Rodeback won the 4 x 200.
The boys’ relay team of Domoniq Monette, Josiah Salazar-Fox, Malik Freeman and Troy Goodwin won the 4 x 100.
The boys’ relay team of Ethan Bursch, Domoniq Monette, Malik Freeman and Sirius James topped the 4 x 400.
Kyle McGregor won the boy’s shot put and the boys’ discus.
McKenzie Salazar-Fox took the girls’ shot put and girls’ discus.
The girls’ javelin went to Victoria Rodeback.
Kamdan Nicklaus won the girls’ high jump and the girls’ long jump.
Cody Hall topped the boys’ javelin.
Skyler Johnson took the boys’ high jump.
Ivory Alexander won the boys’ pole vault.
The long jump went to Connor Adams.
Raymundo Mendoza won the boys’ triple jump.
The Highclimbers host Timberline next Thursday.

Mary M. Knight had some top finishers in a Coastal 1B Track and Field meet at Naselle Thursday. The Owls’ Austin Fries won the boys’ triple jump, was 2nd in the boys’ 100 meters and 2nd in the boys’ long jump.
Ian Frost won the boys’ discus with a season record throw of 154 feet, 6 inches; took the boys’ shot put with a personal record distance of 40 feet, 5 and a quarter inches, and placed 3rd in the boys’ javelin.
Kaylee Sowle topped the girls’ high jump and was 2nd in the girls’ triple jump
Lisa Oppelt finished 3rd n the girls’ 100-meter hurdles.
And the boys’ relay team of Corbin Thompson, Ian Frost, Austin Fries and Eddy Krippelcz won the 4 x 100.
The track and field teams from Matlock will participate in the Naselle INvitational next Thursday.

The North Mason girls’ tennis team lost at Klahowya 4 to 3 Thursday. The Lady Bulldogs travel to Port Angeles Monday.
