The Shelton Police Department has a plan to place School Resource Officers in Shelton schools. Chief Darrin Moody explained the plan to the Shelton City Commission Tuesday night.
According to the Chief, there is already an officer covering Shelton High School and Oakland Bay Junior High. The plan adds two officers – one for Olympic Middle School and Mt. View Elementary and one for CHOICE, Evergreen and Bordeaux.
Chief Moody presented the proposal to the Shelton School Board last week that has the Police Department hiring the officers, provide training and equipment, and the School District paying the officers’ salaries. The Shelton School Board is expected to take action on the funding plan at its next meeting, 6 PM Tuesday, March 27th. The Shelton School Board meets in the library at Shelton High School. The public is encouraged to attend.
