SHS Soccer Falls, Rugby Loses; MMK Baseball Falls
The Shelton boys’ soccer team lost to North Kitsap Saturday 3 to 2. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC was on hand for the game as part of our spring sports broadcast schedule.
The Vikings built a three-goal lead in the first half. The Highclimbers were able to score their first goal in the 37th minute and were down 3 to 1 at the break. In the second half, Shelton’s Ismael Ramirez-Pablo scored Shelton’s second goal in the 45th minute. The ‘Climbers kept the pressure on North Kitsap after that but were not able to tie the game despite several opportunities. Shelton drops to 1-and-3 on the season. They host North Thurston Tuesday in South Sound Conference action.
The Shelton girls’ rugby team lost to Budd Bay Saturday. Final score was not reported but Coach Rob Adkins posted to on the team’s Facebook page, “Well, score didn’t turn out in our favor. But the girls played as a team, everyone got in some game time, and our ref said that this was the best game he’s reffed in 15 years. So I’ll take that any day. Hat’s off to #buddbayrugby for coaching the game like it’s supposed to be played. And a HUGE thanks to all the parents for being great examples for your kids, it really showed on both sides today.” Next Saturday, the rugby girls host Tacoma at Oakland Bay Junior High.
The Mary M. Knight baseball team lost to South Bend Saturday 21 to 8. The Owls play at Quilcene Thursday.
