The suspicious device discovered at a bus stop on Wallace Kneeland Boulevard Friday morning was NOT an explosive.
At approximately 6:30 AM, Shelton Police were dispatched to the Mason Transit bus stop located in the 300 block of East Wallace Kneeland Boulevard regarding the suspicious device that appeared to be a homemade explosive.
As a precaution, the area was cleared and East Wallace Kneeland Boulevard was temporarily closed as the Washington State Patrol Bomb Squad was dispatched to assess the threat. After an initial assessment the device was removed from the scene without incident.
After further examination of the device at an off-site location, the WSP Bomb Squad determined that the device was not an explosive.
While a temporary lock down of Oakland Bay Junior High School and Shelton High School was implemented, at no time did the incident pose an immediate threat to either school.
