Linda Myers, a longtime business owner in Mason County, is the new Executive Director for Love INC (Love In the Name of Christ). She most recently retired from the Shelton School District. For many years she and her husband, Ben, were partners in Parsons & Myers Construction and owned Ben Myers Construction, building many custom homes in Mason County. Linda was born and raised in Shelton. “I am thrilled to be able to continue to give back to this community,” said Linda after taking the job. “My work at CHOICE High School and owning a business for many years with Ben prepared me with a skillset that is very useful as ED of Love INC.”
It was in 2009 Linda first heard about Love INC while visiting a church in Thurston county. She along with five other local community leaders pursued more information and eventually Love INC of Mason County took root. In 2017 more than 1,647 families were provided services via Love INC – whose mission is to “Mobilize the churches to transforms lives.” Linda oversees the Clearinghouse, board of directors, fund raising, and building strong relations with the 26 partner churches and their Gap Ministries. More than 6,865 volunteer hours were spent in 2017 changing lives in Mason County. The Clearinghouse had a total of 5,986 calls in 2017 and gave more than 3,683 referrals to churches, resources and agencies in Mason County. All this had a value of more than $377,000 in community giving.
Love INC is a non-profit corporation 501(c) (3) located in downtown Shelton. It is a non-profit, faith-based organization mobilizing local churches in Mason County to provide services to the homeless, those at risk, low income and socially vulnerable individuals and families. Love INC operates a Clearinghouse to verify the needs of clients and assist those with legitimate needs. The goal is to motivate transformation in the lives of our clients and our community. 2017 was the 40th anniversary of the national organization and Love INC of Mason County has been serving our community for eight years. Some of the services offered are emergency firewood, household goods, furniture, medical equipment, clothing, care-packs, vehicle repair, school backpacks, personal necessities, homeless provisions and more.
