State Bowling Update; SHS Sub Regional Wrestling Update; MMK Basketball Split at Oakville
The State Bowling Championships continue today at Narrows Plaza in Tacoma. In individual results, Shelton Dreann Merriman is tenth among Class 3A bowlers with a six-game total of 1083, high games of 209 and 201, and an average of 180.
Other Highclimbers competing:
Kaylee Slone with a total of 981, a high game of 200 and an average of 163.
Courtney Chamberlin with a total of 923 and an average of 154.
Kaylee Schilter with a total 909 and average 151.
Rebecca Robinson with a total of 891 and average of 148.
Annalee Schilter and Taiyler Brown did not bowl during the first day.
At the start of Saturday’s baker games, Shelton was in fifth place.
North Mason has Aubriana Wight competing as an individual in the 1A/2A Championships. She has a six game total of 886, a high game of 180 and an average of 148.
The Shelton boys wrestling team is in third place after the first day of the Sub Regionals at North Thurston High School. There are six Highclimbers in the Semi Finals this morning with wresting starting at 10 AM. Shelton’s Quinn Lacy and Allison Christianson are wresting in the girls’ Sub Regionals at Thomas Jefferson High School today.
The Mary M. Knight boys’ basketball team held off a second half rally in Oakville Friday winning 50 to 45. The Owls held the Acorns to 12 first half points and led 26 to 12 at the half. Oakville outscored MMK in the third quarter by four points and in the fourth by five but couldn’t finish their comeback in the regular season finale. The boys from Matlock finish the regular season with a 15-and-5 record, second in the 1B Coastal League with an 8-and-2 mark. The Mary M. Knight boys host a Southwest District Tournament game Tuesday against Columbia Adventist or Firm Foundation.
The Mary M. Knight girls’ basketball team was held to four points in the first quarter and three in the third at Oakville Friday as the Owls lost to the Acorns 46 to 28 in the regular season finale. The MMK girls are 13-and-7 on the season, 7-and-3 in the 1B Coastal League, second place in the standing. It appears the girls from Matlock are hosting Three Rivers Christian in the Southwest District Tournament Wednesday.
