Shelton Mayor Gary Cronce read a letter during Tuesday night’s special City Commission meeting clarifying recent personnel changes in city staff.
In the letter, Cronce explained that City Manager Ryan Wheaton submitted a letter of resignation on January 16th while Director of Finance Nola Von Neudegg submitted a letter of retirement on January 3rd.
Wheaton’s last day with the city is January 31st and during Tuesday’s meeting – his last as City Manager – he summarized the top issues the Commission will have in the next few months.
At the top of that list is the search for a new City Manager and Finance Director. The City will also have to start looking for someone to handle human resources as Vicki Look, Assistant City Manager who handles those duties, plans to retire later this year.
Other top issues include the transition to a City Council, performance reviews for staff, the roll out of additional online services and large public works projects.
Wheaton ended his list with a concern that staff tends to overwork themselves and he encouraged the City Commissioners to check in on them.
