Basketball: Losses for SHS, NM Splits, Win for MMK Boys

The Shelton boys’ basketball team lost to Timberline Tuesday 70 to 51. The Highclimbers drop to 7-and-11 on the season, 3-and-10 in the South Sound Conference. Shelton holds the final playoff spot with one game remaining in the regular season. The only way the ‘Climbers could slip out of the number six seed is a loss Thursday at winless Yelm and Gig Harbor upsetting fourth place Capital.

The North Mason girls’ basketball team lost at Kingston Tuesday 66 to 53. The Lady Bulldogs drop to 7-and-12 on the season, 2-and-10 in the Olympic League. The girls from Belfair wrap up the season at Chimacum Thursday.

The North Mason boys’ basketball team beat Kingston Tuesday. The Bulldogs improved to 6-and-13 on the season, 3-and-9 in the Olympic League. The boys from Belfair wrap up the season at home against Chimacum Thursday.

The Mary M. Knight boys’ basketball team held North River to eight points in the second half Tuesday, beating the Mustangs 67 to 25. The Owls improved to 14-and-5 on the season, 7-and-2 in the 1B Coastal League and are second in the standings. The boys from Matlock wrap up the regular season at Oakville Friday. MMK is locked in as the Coastal League’s number two team as will host a Southwest District 4 Tournament game on Tuesday, February 6th. Likely opponent is Three Rivers Christian, a team the Owls beat twice in December.
