The Shelton basketball teams beat Yelm Wednesday. The Lady Highclimbers won on the road 73 to 54 while the boys’ won 76 to 45 at home in a game broadcast by MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
The Shelton boys were led by Travis Cobenson’s 16 points (8 in the 4th qurater) and Ty Thompson’s 14 points (9 in the 3rd quarter). Tyler Auld chipped in 10. Malik Freeman added 9. Caeleb HItsman scored 8. Cole Forsman and Zach Jonker each had 6 points.Casey Badillo-Brown added 4 points. And Noah Benson hit a three.
In the loss, the Tornados were led by 13 points from Gabe Cruz and 12 from TJ Wilson. Yelm remains winless on the season.
The Highclimbers improved to 6-and-8 on the season, 2-and-5 in the South Sound Conference. They host Capital Firday in a game that will be broadcast by MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
The Shelton girls jumped out to a 21 to 5 first quarter lead and lead 40 to 18 at the half befire crusing to their tenth win of the season. Kayla Gairns led the Lady-‘Climbers with 17 points while Jasmine Griffin and Timber Ware each added 16. Kylind Powell chipped in 7. Taya Gouley and Katie Johnson scored 6 apiece. And Jordyn Peterson had 5.
Maddie Plevyak was the leading scorer for Yelm which dropped to 7-and-7 on the season, 3-and-5 in the SSC.
Shelton is now 10-and-3 on the season, 5-and-2 in the South Sound Conference, The ‘Climbers travel to Capital Friday.
