Grapeview Boat Ramp Ground Breaking

The Port of Grapeview held a ground breaking ceremony Wednesday for their new boat ramp. The Port received a Washington State Recreation Commission Office Grant of over $528,000 to construct the new boat ramp, gangway and public restroom in two phases. First phase is the boat ramp.

According to Glenn Carlson, Chair of the Port of Grapeview Commission, the current boat ramp adjacent to Fair Harbor Marina is over 50 years old and its replacement has been in the works for several years.

Several agencies, organizations and volunteers came together to help fund the project including a $70,000 donationfrom Taylor Shellfish.

Congressman Derek Kilmer helped the Port get approval on the Federal side and he spoke during the celebration.

Mason County Commissioner Terri Drexler explained how the boat ramp is economic development.

Mason County Commissioner Randy Neatherlin offered the Port his congratulations.

Work on the boat ramp is expected to begin in the next couple of week with most of the work being done at night due to the timing of the low tides.
