The Shelton boys’ basketball team wasn’t able to hold off Tumwater Friday falling 62 to 58. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC broadcast the back-and-forth game.
The T-Birds built a 10-point lead in the first quarter but the Highclimbers came back to hold a brief four-point lead before the half ended in a 31-31 tie. The third quarter saw Shelton go up by 10 but Tumwater’s CJ Geathers, who was held scoreless until late in the third, heated up and single handedly brought the T-birds back.
Geathers scored 20 of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter. Damon Gaither added 10 points.
The ‘Climbers had four players score in double-digits, led by Tyler Auld’s 15 points. Auld hit four three-pointers. Travis Colbenson added 11 points – making three, three’s. Ty Thompson and Caeleb Hitsman each chipped in 10 points.
Shelton dropped to 5-and-6 on the season. The Highclimbers return to South Sound Conference play Wednesday with a road game at Peninsula.
