Karen Herr Will Not Seek Re-Election in 2018

Mason County Auditor Karen Herr has announced that she will not be seeking re-election next year. After working 26 years in the Auditor’s office, including three terms as Auditor, Herr says she is looking forward to pursuing new challenges and opportunities within the community.

Karen started in the Auditor’s office in 1992 working in the Election’s department, promoted to Chief Deputy Auditor in 1998, and ran for Auditor in 2006.

In her announcement Friday, the Auditor said, “Public service has been an honor and an exceptionally rewarding job that I love. For me, it has always been essential that my office serve the citizens of Mason County in an ethical and completely open manner, and I feel that I and my dedicated and extremely supportive and competent staff have accomplished that goal.”

Herr’s term as Mason County Auditor runs through 2018.
“Although I have another year to serve as Auditor, I feel that it is only fair that I announce my intentions now, so that any prospective future candidates will have adequate time to consider and run for this position.”
