MMK Girls’ Season Ends in Regionals

The Mary M. Knight girls’ basketball team’s season ended Saturday night in the Regional round of the State Tournament when the Lady Owls lost to Northwest Yeshiva 54 to 30. The girls from Matlock had an early four-point lead but the 613s started to take advantage of Owl turnovers and once they grabbed the lead, they didn’t let up on the pressure. NYHS led by five after the first quarter and by six at the half but the third quarter was when the girls from the Mercer Island Jewish school took complete control. The 613s hold the Owls to just two points in the quarter and built a 22-point lead – a deficit Mary M. Knight was unable to overcome. Northwest Yeshiva was led by Julia Owen who scored 21 points and Ilana Greenberg who added 18. The 613s head to Spokane on Thursday. The Owls didn’t have a player with more that six points and that was Jaycee Valley. Hannah Frost and Linda Cook scored five a piece. The Mary M. Knight girls’ basketball team finished the season with a 14-and-7 record, second place in the Southwest District IV, and second place in the Coastal League.
