The Shelton girls’ basketball team won its South Sound Conference opener Wednesday beating Capital 71 to 46. The Lady-‘Climbers jump out to an early 15-point lead and the closest the Cougars could get was nine points in a game that was broadcast by MasonWebTV Powered by HCC.
Four Shelton players scored in double digits led by Katie Johnson’s 18 points including four-three pointers. Timber Ware added 17 points, hitting three, three-pointers. Kaya Gairns chipped in 14 points – eight in the fourth quarter. And Kylind Powell had 10 points – five in the fourth. Every Highclimber played and only Taya Gouley didn’t score. Jasmine Griffin scored 4. Jorden Peterson and Decheiya Littlesun each hit a three. And Lexi Moon hit two free throws.
Shelton improved to 2-and-1 on the season, 1-and-0 in the SSC. The Lady-‘Climbers travel to North Thurston Friday.

The North Mason boys’ basketball team lost their Olympic League opener to Sequim 47 to 44 Wednesday. The Bulldogs drop to 1-and-2 on the season. The boys from Belfair travel to Kingston Friday.
The North Mason girls’ basketball team lost their first game of the season Wednesday and it was their league opener. The Lady Bulldogs fell to Sequim 57 to 36. The girls from Belfair are now 2-and-1 on the season. They host Kingston Friday.
The North Mason teams have a double header against Crosspoint Saturday. The ladies at 5:15 PM. The boys at 7. MasonWebTV Powered by HCC will broadcast both games.
