The State Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash on Highway 3 south of Shelton Sunday that killed a 57-year-old Port Orchard woman. Just before 5 PM, a 2017 Kia Forte was northbound on SR-3. At the intersection with Vic King Road, about a half mile north of the interchange with U.S. Highway 101, the Kia failed to negotiate a curve in the road, crossed the centerline and struck a southbound 2001 Pontiac Sunfire. The highway was blocked for nearly five hours.
The woman driving the Pontiac, identified as Patrica V. Downey, 57 of Port Orchard, died at the scene of the crash.
The man driving the Forte, identified as Robert C. Foster, 55 of Shelton, was injured and transported by aid car to Tacoma General Hospital.
The press memo indicates alcohol or drugs were involved in this crash.
