Shelton Football Ends Season With Win

The Shelton football team ended the 2017 season with a 12 to 7 win over Mt. Tahoma Thursday night.

The Highclimbers scored on their first possession, driving 68 yards with Evan Rhodes punching it in from three yards out.

The Thunderbird’s offense sputter in the first half gaining only 81 yards and failing to capitalize on a Shelton turnover.

That turnover, a fumble lost, ended a promising ‘Climbers’ drive that started on Shelton’s 45 and ended on Mt. Tahoma’s 20.

The Highclimbers out gained the T-Birds in the first half 126 yards to 81 and Shelton had a 6 to 0 lead at the break.

In the third quarter, the ‘Climbers doubled their lead on their second possession of the half, going 54 yards on eight plays with Troy Goodwin scoring Shelton’s second TD on a three-yard run.

The T-Birds scored their touchdown with 5:16 remaining in the game, going 62 yards on 10 plays with Trevino Lewis running it in from two yards.

Shelton finishes the season 1-and-9.
