Among utilities its size, PUD 3 won first place in the Annual Report and Internal Communications categories. The PUD picked up third place awards for Advertising Campaign, Website, and Social Media. The awards were announced September 28.
This year, NWPPA received a record-breaking 206 entries from 36 different utility and association members. In comparison, the association received 204 entries last year.
“To win five awards in such a talented class is great,” said Joel Myer, PUD 3’s public information and government relations manager. “This competition allows us to benchmark our efforts against hundreds of other organizations. PUD 3 works hard to focus its efforts on the needs of our customers and community as we strive for excellence.”
“We were grateful for all the utilities who took the time to enter the communications competition. Because of their efforts, we had a record-breaking number of entries this year. The quality of the entries – and the competition – seems to improve just a bit each year too, which gives all of us a push to up our game,” said 2017 NIC Chair Libby Calnon of Columbia River PUD in Deer Island, Ore. “I can’t wait to see what 2018 brings. I fully expect we will break the record again.”
Now in its 24th year, the Excellence in Communication contest recognized the top communication efforts of member utilities from throughout NWPPA’s service territory, which includes eight western states and one Canadian province.
